IGU’s Keynote Address at The Future of Gas and Hydrogen 2.0 Conference

Recently organised by the Association of Mechanical Engineers of Slovenia with the support of Geoplin and Plinovodi – members of the IGU, the “Future of Gas and Hydrogen 2.0” proved the importance of advancing Gas as a key enabler of any credible future energy pathway, gathering more than 200 participants.
The Slovenian Gas industry has been long supported by the IGU to contribute to the country’s positive engagement in the continuous innovation in the Gas sector.
The acceleration of green gases and the opportunity to switch to gas from other more polluting fuels are fundamental in supporting the energy evolution paths, being a great example of how important a diversified and complimentary energy matrix is to achieve the global goal of net zero.
In his keynote address, IGU’s Vice President, Mr Andrea Stegher, emphasised the need for pragmatic approaches to address the complexities surrounding the energy landscape, such as energy security, and continue the search for new options to reduce the industry’s climate footprint by using technologically neutral approaches.
Mr Stegher said: “The Gas industry is part of a solution, part of the collaboration required to promote human progress and global growth.
The Gas industry is contributing to one quarter of the world’s energy needs and we have a clear and active role to play with all relevant stakeholders as Gas is an immediately available, largely affordable, highly reliable and easily dispatchable energy resource, the cleanest of all conventional fossil fuels.
Innovation is part of our industry’s DNA and this will serve to further improve an energy sustainability powered by Gas.”
