  • Government of India Inviting Bids for the 11th Round of City Gas Distribution to Complete Its Gasification

India has invited electronic bids from interested parties in India and abroad for its 11th City Gas Distribution (CGD) Bidding round

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), India authorizes the City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks, natural gas and petroleum product pipelines, determines tariff, lays down the technical and safety standards etc. PNGRB’s current focus is to increase the market share of Natural Gas in India’s energy basket, create infrastructure to support higher consumption of Natural Gas, create a transparent and vibrant Natural Gas market and balance the interests of consumers, transporters and producers of Natural Gas in the country.

Presently there are 228 Geographical Areas (GA’s) authorized by PNGRB in 27 States and U.T.s covering approximately 53% of the country’s geographical area and 70% of its population.

In order to further expand the reach of natural gas in the country, PNGRB has launched the 11th CGD Bidding Round on 17.09.2021 and invited electronic bids from interested parties in India and abroad for development of CGD Network in the 65 Geographical Areas.
