The Globalization of the Natural Gas Industry

November 16, 2016

(Presented by the International Gas Union, the 27th World Gas Conference Global Ambassadors Network, the American Gas Association and the Embassy of Italy)

On November 1, over 135 participants representing dozens of embassies, Capitol Hill and Administration policy makers, regulators, energy experts, think tanks and consultancys gathered at the Italian Embassy in Washington DC to discuss “The Globalization of the Natural Gas Industry” and learn about plans for WGC 2018.

The event managed to stir topical discussions about the present and future state of the global gas industry and the geopolitical challenges and opportunities for natural gas. The tone was set at the Welcome Remarks from the Deputy Chief of Mission, Luca Franchetti Prado “NatGas will play an important role at G7″ and by Ambassador Dr. Neil Parson, Acting Executive Secretary for Integral Development, Organization of American States “Natural gas is not a bridge fuel, but a fuel for today and tomorrow.”

This gathering of the WGC 2018 Global Ambassadors’ Network was the second of many anticipated activities through which the World Gas Conference planning team will engage with policy makers from across the globe to build the voice of gas, and ultimately develop the WGC 2018 conference program.

Natural Gas proved to be a priority for policy makers at the event, Amos Hochstein, Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, U.S. Department of State commented  “Natural Gas is important because of the combined battle for climate change and energy security.”

It was a great meeting attended by many ambassadors, captains of the industry, DC based policy makers and energy experts and there is every reason to believe that the WGC 2018 Global Ambassadors Network will deliver record numbers of attendance from policy makers across the globe.

Speakers included:

Luca Franchetti Pardo, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Italy to the United States
Ambassador Dr. Neil Parsan, Executive Secretary for Integral Development, Organization of American States
