In 2019, global Gas consumption totalled approximately 3,990 bcm with Gas-on-Gas competition (GOG) as the dominant pricing mechanism, accounting for 48% of total volume. This was followed by Oil Price Escalation (OPE) at 19%, while the regulated categories – RSP (14%), RCS (10%), and RBC (6%) – made up a combined 30%.

Bilateral Monopoly (BIM) held a modest 3%, while NET and NP mechanisms were negligible, together comprising less than 1%. The data reflects a broad global shift towards market-based pricing, with GOG now the leading model for Gas consumption across regions.
