Some facts about BIOMETHANE, a much-welcomed addition to the energy mix!
As it is backed by mature production technologies, it has a clear drop-in compatibility with the existing infrastructure, and it’s perfectly positioned to tackle global challenges such as waste management and energy security.
Feed-in premiums and tariffs guarantee(d) a price premium to natural gas, ensure(d) offtake of biomethane, or provide(d) both, significantly reducing the investment risks for operators and investors.
Similarly, carbon intensity obligations under the US’ Renewable Fuel Standard for refiners and importers of gasoline and diesel resulted in higher biomethane offtake to comply with the regulations.
And some very likely PROJECTIONS for biomethane, too:
Moving forward, the global biomethane production is projected to grow by 14% yearly, from about 10 Bcm in 2024 to 75 Bcm by 2040, driven largely by China’s target of reaching 20 Bcm of annual production by 2030 and the EU’s 35 Bcm target by 2030!
