Ontario is a major industrial and economic hub, with large petrochemical, steel, financial and IT sectors. Many of Ontario’s municipalities are rapidly growing, with the city of Toronto as the epicenter of urban growth (the 9th largest city in North America). Despite this rapid development, once with the phased approach of coal elimination, the region's GHG emissions have dropped significantly.
