Operational and FID clean hydrogen projects could only fulfil 0.3% of 2022 natural gas demand in 2030, while the REPowerEU target would fulfil 1.7% of existing gas demand. To fully replace natural gas by 2030, as projected in the 1.5-degree and 1.9-degree scenarios, the hydro gen projects would need to scale up by 20 times and by more than 28 times respectively.
