The LNGXX conferences are owned by GTI (Gas Technology Institute), International Institute of Refrigeration and IGU. The conference is arranged every three years and hosted alternatively by LNG importing or exporting countries.

With abundant reserves, a strong and stable industry, and based on existing, committed and proposed projects Australia will be one of the leading LNG producers in the world. With two thirds of the reserves located in three basins off the Western Australian coast, Perth, Western Australia's capital city is the ideal location for LNG 18.
 
The LNG conference was last held in Perth in 1998.
